April 2025
Born in the shadow of the great solar eclipse of ‘24, Cliché began its life under the working title ’Solar Eclipse'. But just like the fleeting darkness of that cosmic event, the name never stuck. At its core, the song refuses to take itself too seriously - its lyrics are delightfully absurd, its progressions deceptively simple. Yet, despite the tongue-in-cheek approach, Cliché bursts with a raw, undeniable energy that sets it apart, standing in an ironic contrast to its own title.
Though beneath the surface, there's a sharp edge. “We'd like to take a moment to make note of a certain band - one that shall not be named - for their brand of manufactured authenticity, a hollow echo in the modern band scene,” says Andrew Crozier. Cliché is both a playful jab and a defiant anthem, proving that real music doesn't have to conform to trends or hide behind a facade. This track is a statement, a sneer, and a celebration all at once - loud, unapologetic, and completely their own.
Released on January 17th, 2025, Cliché quickly made waves, gaining a strong foothold in Ottawa and Kingston's music scenes. The response has been overwhelming. Their Spotify has climbed up to 1,882 monthly listeners, and they have surpassed 5000 streams across all platforms. What started as an inside joke has turned into something real. "Cliché isn't just a song, it's proof that we're here, and we're just getting started," says Branden Tyhy.
So expect more from them in the near future - new songs are on the way, each one pushing boundaries, breaking expectations, and continuing to prove that Cliché was just the beginning. Keep an eye (and ear) out!
